Chapter 72. Needing His Help

Mika watched as the security guards led Mary away, her hands quivering. Her thoughts were racing as she tried to understand the unexpected confrontation and the reopening of old scars. As the guard on her side inquired whether she was okay, she took a deep breath to settle herself. 

"I'm fine," Mika answered, her voice still trembling. "Thank you for intervening." 

The guard nodded; his eyes filled with concern. "Do you need any further assistance, Mam? We can call the police if necessary." 

Mika made a shaky motion with her head. "No, I think I'll be fine; I just need a minute to gather my thoughts." 

Mika's thoughts wandered to the past as the guard left to ensure everything was under control. Her breakup with Sam had been two years, and she had worked hard to move on and find happiness in her new life. However, meeting Mary brought back emotions of anguish and betrayal. 

She exited the mall and walked to her car. She drove up
