Chapter 21
Conrad's POV
The dinner with my parents went quite well; my mother loved Gwen. As they talked, they realized they had some things in common. Sometimes they engaged in discussions about topics they didn't agree on, and that made them get along even better. I didn't fully understand it, but my father said she seemed like a good girl. As always, he asked me if I had investigated her, if I knew where she came from, who her family was, or what her current life conditions were. I told him no, because it's the truth. I haven't taken the time to investigate any of my students; it didn't seem necessary. I don't want to see them as people I can use to reach their parents, get a better job, or become partners with any of them.
My father has always seen opportunities in every place or person he meets. He often tells me that the world is full of opportunities, and I know it. I know that getting along with them and getting to know their parents could bring me closer to the life I want
