Chapter 12
Jolene chuckled as she glanced at the mini clock on her table, her mind fixed on five and how she still had to rush home and get dressed for dinner. She doubted Tristan was going to dress her up. He hadn’t mentioned it, and moreover, she was not a charity case; he would assume she had no proper dress for a business dinner date.
Tristan sighed, dropping his head in his hands long after Patricia had gone. He felt drained like he had been for the past two years but couldn’t say a word. He shuddered at the memory of the last time he had told Patricia they had to break up. She had wept all through and accused him of never loving her and had threatened to kill herself so he could live with the guilt of murdering a soul by his actions. Sometimes, he looked at her and wondered if she was the same girl he and Jolene were friends with.
Jolene. His love. The thought of her name brought pangs and aches to his heart, but he had to agree with himself that she had moved on. He wondered
