Colt’s POV

“That was f*cking close!” Sam called out, wide-eyed. “Who would have thought that all mighty Alpha Ethan would buy a lie like that?”

Sam pulled a sour face, mocking Ethan’s title; he had never liked Ethan much.

Grey raised an eyebrow and turned to look at me.

“I wasn’t lying when I said Colt had marked Kate,” Grey said.

The room fell silent once more, and everyone’s gaze turned to me.

“You marked Kate without telling me—us?” Sam spat angrily and sat upright. “I thought we all agreed to wait until the Alpha Ceremony.”

My gaze moved toward Grey, seeking help.

“I can’t remember marking Kate,” I said, honestly.

Grey pulled his lips into a thin line, nodding his head.

“I have a theory about that,” Grey said after a moment of silence.

“Typical!” Sam hissed, throwing his hands in the air. “Grey always comes up with a theory and saves the day!”

Grey lightly growled at Sam, warning him to back off.
