Chapter 23

After the last class had ended, I wasted no time in making my way through the hallways of the school towards my locker. My mind was focused on one thing - retrieving my belongings so that I could rush to the hospital and see Josh without any delay.

Upon reaching my locker, I swiftly gathered the necessary items and removed any excess weight from my bag. As I pondered over what else I might need, a voice from behind startled me, “Hey, Bea!” causing me to jump in surprise.

Turning around, I was greeted by the annoying grin of Adrian Marquez. "You scared the life out of me!" I exclaimed, my annoyance evident in my tone. He could not help but chuckle at my reaction, further fueling my frustration.

"So, it seems like you are in a hurry to go somewhere very important," he remarked, his teasing tone irritating me even more.

"Just go away, Ian, you are distracting me," I snapped, reaching for my phone as it continued to vibrate incessant
