Angelica’s POV
Everything was confusing.
Nothing made sense anymore.
I don’t remember how long I had been running. My feet felt numb and full of blisters, my limbs aching like someone was hammering them from inside, and my legs burning with lack of oxygen. I ended up on the roadside before finally hailing a cab.
“Are you okay, Miss?” The driver looked at me concerned, and I gave him a weak smile.
“I am fine. Just the evening run getting to me,” I lied through my teeth before giving him a random address out of the city that I looked up quickly.
Closing my eyes, I breathed deeply to find relief but couldn’t feel it.
How could I be relieved when everything around me shattered like a glass palace that pricked my skin and heart like dagger wounds?
