Chapter 3

In Los Angeles, five years had passed.

In the old building on the most hidden street in Los Angeles, a small voice could be heard pleading.

"Oh, mom, Ethan knows he's wrong..." the little boy tugged on his ears. As he stood at the edge of the small living room, his face was sad.

When Heart looked at her son's test, she couldn't help but raise her eyebrows. "Ethan William, check this out! Do you want a heart attack to kill me?" She was out of control and stuck in her head because she was angry.

Little Ethan rubbed his face and said, "Mom..."

"Take a look at how you answered question one. Is it true that the child can run the whole world?" Heart's eyes widened in disbelief.

Ethan gave his mother his best smile. He was thinking that if he gave his mother the best smile, it would make her feel better. "Mom..." he said in a loving and pitiful way.

"You bad boy! Don't look at me like I'm to blame! I have no idea why you wrote this answer on your test. There is no right answer to this essay. "All you have to do is say your good thoughts," Heart keeps preaching. She doesn't want to be mean, but the way Ethan lives his life is crazy.

Ethan didn't answer; instead, he broke down and cried.

"I wonder if my handsome grandson did badly on his test. "Give that to me, and I'll check it," says Lolita William as she slowly leaves the kitchen. She put on her glasses and went to Heart to get the test paper. "Hmm, I think my grandson has a point here," she said after reading the test.

"Hee-hee, my grandmother knows how good I am," Ethan said happily as he ran under his grandmother's arm and cuddled her.

Heart pout. "Mom, you're again taking his side! "How will he learn anything if you always take care of him?"

"Heart, your son grew up in New York, but we moved there only six months ago. So, give him some time to get used to living here. He's still young, so don't put too much pressure on him." Lolita rubs Ethan's head and gives him a hug in return. She doesn't have a bias either. The only reason is that Lolita knows that their lives have not been easy compared to most families.

"Still young? Ethan is five years old and will go to regular school next year. Heart yells back, "I'm afraid he won't learn anything."

"I'm to blame for this... If I weren't sick, you wouldn't have to go to New York." Lolita knew how much pain she had caused Heart by telling him that.

"Mom, this has nothing to do with how sick you are. Don't be mad at yourself. The best thing that can happen is that you get better, so don't blame yourself," Heart, hold on for a second.

Heart was pregnant at the time, and her mother Lolita was getting help at the same time. After a year, they had used up the $5 million that Heart got from the deal. But it was worth it to see her mother get better.

"Okay, I'll stop talking about it," Lolita said, "but I did want you and Ethan to be happy." She hoped that they would be happy. Even though Ethan's father is unknown, it no longer matters. Heart and Ethan are the only ones who matter.

"Please don't cry, Grandma. "I promise that from now on I'll work hard in school," Ethan said after hearing his grandmother cry. He took the test paper in his little hand and crumpled it up.

When she sees her mother and son taking care of each other, it makes her cry. She loves both of them, and they love each other, so Heart had to work hard to give her son Ethan a great future.

Heart is aware of what she did to her son. Because she cared about her son so much, she stole his perfect life so she could do everything for him.

At night...

"Heart, it's time to party! "What the hell are you doing?!"

"Mr. Lim, I'm already there." Heart replied nicely.

"All right, go up to the third floor. I'll wait for you." Mr. Lim didn't wait for Heart to answer before ending the call.

As Heart looked at the building in front of her, she sighed. It was way too fancy for her. She had already seen some rich people from the establishment arrive.

"Hmm, Night Devil Empire Hotel ..." Heart's coworker always tells her about this place. Well, now that she's seen how beautiful the building is, she's no longer curious. The Hotel is the city's public face. It shows how wealthy the city is compared to other places.

Heart has only worked at the company for six months, so she didn't think Mr. Lim would invite her out.

Heart said to herself, "Mr. Lim said I'd get a bonus if I came here." When she thought about the extra money, she felt happy. Heart told herself that she would do anything for her mother and son. So, a little extra money helps them a lot.

Heart gripped her purse tighter and stopped at the side of the road where a black sedan was parked. She took a look at herself in the car window and fixed how she looked. Her long, jet-black hair was done up in a princess bun that was as perfect as her makeup.

Heart wears a black evening dress with cut-off shoulders that shows off her skin tone just for tonight. She fixed the part of her dress that was getting worn while she kept looking at her reflection in the car window.

She says to herself, "Hmm... Heart, you look beautiful and decent tonight." Heart was happy with how she looked and was about to say something positive to herself when the window of the car opened.

Heart was embarrassed, and she couldn't hide it because her smile was frozen.

Oh, God! Why didn't I realize that someone was in the car?! She doesn't have to let the event make her face turn red.

The window of the car finally went down, revealing the person inside. Or, to be more precise, Heart saw a very handsome man with a sarcastic smile. As he looked right into her eyes, his deep, sleepy eyes lit up with a hint of evil.

Heart didn't know why she was shaking, but she was. As if something had touched her heart. (What a beautiful man...)

"Miss, I don't need any extra services here," The man says the word "service" in a sarcastic way and looks at Heart as if he doesn't care.

Even though the man looked like he didn't like him, Heart couldn't help but fall in love with his beautiful voice.

Then she feels like she knows the man... His voice and personality... Heart knows that she heard him somewhere, which makes her heart beat faster.

Then, though, she stops... service? Even though the man has a beautiful voice, every word he says hurts the ear. This is enough for Heart to ruin his good-looking face.

"How do you feel about me?" Heart asked with an eyebrow raised. The shame makes her redden her face in an instant.

"Do I even have to say it? "Miss, a hooker like you doesn't belong here," the man said in a cold voice.

Heart gritted her teeth while still keeping a good face. She gave him a sweet smile and said, "Sir, I think you didn't get what I meant. I'm not a pick-up artist who does work," As Heart talked, he made sure to watch her eyes to see how she looked down on him.

He just looks at her without caring, which makes Heart's head heat up even more. Heart continued, "And if a hooker comes here, I'm sure they'll ask you," but the guy didn't look like he didn't care about anything she said.

"But for me? You don't meet my standard!" Adding a heart is a pain.

The man didn't say anything in response to Heart's anger. Instead, he raised an eyebrow and said in a cold way. "I just don't like women who aren't on the same level as me,"

"Not equal?" Heart said it again. When the man insults her directly, she gets even more angry.

Heart makes her fist tight. (So what girl is the same as him? She just looked at herself in the window of the car. Did she really need to be embarrassed by this crazy jerk?!)

Heart look at the guy's face, which isn't upset at all. Did he think that because he looks good, he could be mean to a girl? Can he also hate a woman who drives a fancy car?

She looked at the guy while clenching her fist tightly. Before the man could shut the window, it-Heart did the craziest and most exciting thing she had ever done.
