Chapter 13. Making an Effort

Carla tossed and turned in the rather comfortable bed that was now hers, before giving up on getting any sleep.

Stephanie and Carolyne had left earlier in the evening, each to their temporary homes. 

Stephanie had been assigned to a family of five who, according to Mark, were kind and good people. 

Carolyne would be staying with an unmated woman who had seemed overly serious when she came to pick the redhead and to Carolyne's horror, unappreciative of her humour and personality.

Being alone with Mark was not as awkward or as strange as she had thought it would be because of how normal and casual he had behaved. He showed her around the small but comfy house and then took her to the second bedroom which she was assigned to.

The only part of the house she had not seen was his bedroom whose door was firmly shut at all times and the door across from it, and she was curious to see what his room looked like.
