Chapter 21. Like Father, Like Son
The forest seemed to be alive as Carla cluelessly navigated through the thick greenery, her tired feet dragging through dried leaves and dirt.
The blonde girl had been walking for what could have been two hours, or maybe three, or four, she could not tell as she had lost her sense of time about thirty minutes into counting every second that went by.
Every little sound that came from the woods, natural or unnatural, frightened the soul out of her and she was quickly beginning to lose her mind trying to decipher which sounds were real and which were a fiction of her imagination.
Carla stumbled when one foot caught on a hidden root and flailed her arms to stop her fall, finally throwing herself into the thin three to her right to find balance.
"F*ck," she whispered as she tested her foot against the ground to see if she was injured and hissed at the responding sting.
