Chapter 18. Reorientation
Beta's home was a large cottage built in the heart of town, and Carla was not surprised that a man like him would want to be in the center of everything.
Benji, who had made no move to acknowledge his Father's presence like most children would, was snuggled up in her arms and Carla found it hard to see him as Beta's son.
While they shared some similarities in appearance, like the piercing sharpness of their gaze, they were also incredibly different. Where Benji was warm and sweet, Beta was the walking embodiment of rat poison and he filled her with an unquenchable rage.
"Wait down here with Cassandra while the boys and I have a little chat in my office," he instructed Carla without giving her so much as a glance, as they all filed into the large house.
