Chapter 138. A Real Phony

I’m falling asleep in the back of the semi-truck, being lulled by the swaying of the vehicle when it abruptly stops. Everyone jolts forward from the inertia, colliding against each other. The ones nearest to the wall have to catch themselves from hitting their faces on the metal. People rumble as they right themselves, wondering what is going on.
“Fuck!” Lazar yells.
“That’s a flat tire,” Randal says, calmly. “Do we have a spare?”
The metal doors open, and Bogdan appears. He moves people out of the way to get to the spare tire. He jumps out of the truck with it in his arms and yells, “Get out of the truck!”
We all shuffle out like sheep following an angry shepherd. We sit on the ground as we watch the vampires change the tire. There’s not much to do in the forest. This is the most entertainment we’re going to get.
