I don’t know how much King Myenas is looking into Lydia’s death. I know people have to be talking about seeing Lex flee Carmine Falls with a witch who throws fireballs at guards. Having the meeting with all the vampire monarchs at Scarlett Thunder is a way to deflect that this whole thing isn’t my idea. After what happened in Burgundy Bay, I’d rather be safe than sorry.

Lex has no issues with looking suspicious. My brother has the ability to smile at his enemies and pretend to be blissfully ignorant. I couldn’t look so carefree even if I wanted to. I carry my burdens on my shoulders at all times like an old coat.
