“You son of a bitch, you did it,” I say, still reeling with how Kane has managed to convince the vampire monarchs to agree to his insane plan.

“Hey. That’s my mother you’re talking about.” Kane is smiling so I know he doesn’t really take offense. “I’m surprised I got them to agree, too. I thought I could get maybe half of them to sign on, but I managed to get most of them onboard.”

“I don’t think those old bats have ever agreed on anything in centuries.”

The vampire royals have all left to return to their kingdoms. Kane, Lex, and I are in Lex’s office celebrating over our victory. King Matthias and a few of his friends have not officially agreed to Kane’s new blood donor business, but they haven’t rejected the idea. I’m guessing they're hedging their bets to see which side will be more profitable for them. They have no real loyalty to King Myenas, and they only want to follow where the blood and gold are going.
