Ray’s POV

“What?” I peered at him, shocked by his words.

Though I’ve not heard much about the vampires, the village chief used to tell us tales about the bloodsuckers, to scare us.

“I’m not a human.” He repeated once more.

“You are a bloodsucker?” I swallowed.

Though I had half the mind to run for the door, my legs couldn’t move. It was as if I were rooted to the bed.

“Yes, I am.” He nodded. “You see that was why I’ve not been able to locate my Kingdom. None of the humans knows where the kingdom of vampires is.”

“You are a bloodsucker?” I asked once more, blinking to be certain my ears weren’t deceiving me.

I gave him a once over as I tried to check on anything different about him.
