Chapter 38. Has Your Mind Imprisoned

“Your husband is magnificent, Belladonna,” Papa praised, a small smile on his face. “Our International affairs shot up as soon as he took over.”
I fought the urge to look over at Kade and kept my eyes fixed on Papa. “I told you he would be capable.”
Papa nodded. “Indeed. I never doubted your decision. You do know what’s good for the company, after all.”
That last part wasn't directed at me, but at the people who were gawking at me like I was an art piece exhibited at a museum, looking for faults. But of course, they weren't going to see any.
Medea was among those people, searching for faults like she always did.
I made a show of looking at her just to see what look she had on her face, and I wasn't disappointed. The look on her face was filled with jealousy. Our eyes met and held. I made sure to keep looking at her, making sure she saw that there wasn't any fault she could exploit this time.
