“Hey, sweetheart,” Axel said as I picked up the video call, a wide smile on his face, his hair blowing in the wind.
“Hi,” I replied, taking a seat and dropping my bag.
“How’s my gorgeous human doing?”
I sighed. “Oh, you know, she’s lonely and misses her man.”
“Hey, hey, you were the one who told me to live, and stopped hovering around you like I was your shadow. You particularly blackmailed me.”
Yeah, I remembered that night. We were just done making love, tangled in each other, covered in sweat, and I had said, “You should go see the sea.”
It was the first month after we returned to London and I resumed school. Axel dropped me off at school and picked me up every damn day, and while I was at school, he was just at home, doing who knows what, acting like a house husband.
He never once complained, but I wasn’t comfortable with him living like that. I was living, so why couldn’t he?
