Chapter 67. Lies

Heather POV

“She’s not going anywhere,” Alpha Kayden’s voice sliced through the air, sharp and unyielding. I froze, sinking back into my seat. Across from me, Alpha Damon’s gaze darkened, eyes narrowing, but Stella’s gentle hand on his arm made him turn to her instead. He sighed heavily, tension buzzing beneath the surface.

“My spies have been stationed near the old ruins of the Night Angel pack,” Damon began, his voice low and troubled. “Where we found the strange human heart. It almost killed me when I tried to destroy it.” Alpha Kayden’s head snapped up, his eyes locking on Stella, who gave a small nod of confirmation.

“We’ve been trying to figure out what kind of dark power it holds,” Stella said cautiously, her voice strained. I could feel my pulse quicken.

“So, the dark power hasn’t been eliminated?” My question lingered in the air, heavy with dread.
