Chapter 28. War Lives
The sole of my feet rests atop a sheer rock, a warm breeze sweeping across my face. I peer into the abyss in front of me, scrutinizing the protruding rocks and stones around it. Suggestions are building and shattering as fast as they pop up in my mind.
“How do I handle the White Neems?” I wonder, just before soft creaking sounds reach my ears. I whip around, only to see a shiny blade whizzing past me. My heart leaps as the dagger descends into the depths behind me.
I draw my sword, pointing it in the direction where the blade came from. The familiar pain in my shoulder causing my grip to loosen.
“Argh!” I groan as my sword leaves my hand, clattering with the rocky ground. I see two figures edging toward me with hooded capes and devilish eyes. Their pristine white outfits are fashionable and distinct.
“Please...” I mutter, my heart slamming against my ribcage.
