Asher and I finished reading the diaries we were holding at almost the same time—mine were his diaries as Aiden, while his were technically my diaries… or, to be precise, Kara’s diaries. We were both left speechless, nearly stunned, even though we had both expected this reaction since we already knew what would happen in the diaries.

Reading these diary entries felt like watching a film we had already heard about. For me, it was like watching a movie I hadn’t actually seen but already knew the ending to… and for Asher… I wasn’t quite sure. Maybe for him, it seemed like reminiscing… but from Kara’s point of view.

Just minutes ago, both Asher and I had been sniffing, as along with our tears, our noses ran from the extreme cold in the attic. We had already stopped reading a while ago and went down to my room to use the heater.
