I awoke feeling profoundly groggy, and in addition to this, I felt the sharp throbbing of the wounds upon my hands. The day before, I had applied some herbal remedies, having fortunately discovered medicinal herbs just outside the cabin. I was certain that the pain was worsened by the cold weather. Nevertheless, such aching was only natural, considering the depth to which I had wounded myself.

I had already departed from the cabin, for when I first awoke, I panicked upon hearing sounds outside. Thus, I thought it prudent to leave and seek shelter elsewhere. I had some money with me… so I presumed it would be acceptable to find a new place of refuge.
