I had planned to take a hot bath and head to bed after finishing the call with Lee, Paige, and Sarah about Tate and everything going on between us. But just as I stood up, my phone rang again. Lee’s name lit up on the caller ID.

“I’ve been wanting to ask you this,” Lee said as soon as I answered. Her voice was a little hesitant, and I could hear her exhale deeply. “But, of course, I couldn’t bring it up earlier with Paige and Sarah around. I mean, what would they think, right? That I’m crazy?” She let out a soft laugh, the kind that sounded both amused and a little self-deprecating. Even though this was just an audio call, I could picture her shaking her head as she spoke.

“What is it you want to ask?” I prompted, curiosity piqued.
