Chapter 445. One Way to Make an Exit

As AJ and I slowly made our way out of the bar, my right hand intertwined with his left, we moved like blind men feeling our way through the darkness. Our free hands hovered in the air, cautiously swaying, ready to avoid any obstacles or unsuspecting people in our path. The only thing we were certain of was that we were walking in a straight line—after all, the entrance and exit were directly ahead of us.
Since AJ was slightly ahead of me, he was the first to approach the door. Just as we neared it, he spoke up, his voice steady yet quiet in the dimness. “This is it… I’ll push the door open.”
A second later, he did just that, stepping out into the cool night air. But just as I was about to follow him, my foot caught on something—I hadn’t noticed the small rail right before the exit. My balance faltered instantly.
