Chapter 454. A Mother’s Letter (1)

“I’m sleeping here tonight, okay? I’ll leave early—got an early shift tomorrow…” Asher said after we finished eating the pizza Zac had sent over.
We barely touched half of it. Neither of us had much of an appetite. Zac had been insistent about sending us food, and I was too drained to argue, so I just gave in and let him.
I hated letting dishes pile up, so despite feeling sluggish, I forced myself to wash the plates and glasses we had used. Asher had already retreated to my room while I cleaned up. There weren’t many dishes, so I finished quickly.
Just as I was drying my hands, Asher’s voice rang out from my room.
“Lee! Come here! You… you need to see this!”
There was an urgency in his tone that sent a jolt through me. Without hesitation, I hurried inside.
I found him kneeling on my bed, gripping a slightly crumpled sheet of bond paper.
