The next evening, Alanna was driving Matheus to the airport. As she drove, she admired the two rings on her finger.

“When did you decide to propose to me, Alanna?”

“Hmm, on the day you confessed your feelings for me. I called Vanessa, and she called me clueless for not noticing that I already loved you. That’s when I realized my life wouldn’t make sense without you. And you?”

“I wanted to mark you during your heat! I held back many times from doing it.”

“I would have killed you if you had marked me!”

“I know! And speaking of marking, can we discuss it more when you get back?”

“Isn’t it enough that we have two rings on our fingers?”

“No, it’s not.”

Alanna laughed.

“Alanna, tell me something: what happened with Vanessa at the hospital? I was worried.”

“I can’t tell you, I’m sorry! It’s something personal between Vanessa and Anthony. If Vanessa doesn’t want to tell, it’s her problem, even though I think that’s wrong.”

“V
