Chapter 17
Matheus and Alanna had filed for their marriage license, and according to New York laws, they could get married the next day. Matheus woke up and made some phone calls. He felt that Alanna deserved something more than just going to the courthouse and signing papers.
As they headed towards the courthouse, Alanna realized that Matheus was driving in a different direction.
“Where are you going? We’re going to be late!”
“Surprise!”
When they arrived at the New York Harbor, Alanna grew impatient, thinking they might miss their appointment. Matheus guided her to a ship, and when they boarded, Alanna let out a small gasp. A path of flowers led to a small altar.
“Matheus, how...?”
“I hope you like it. It’s not Vegas, but it has its charm.”
Overwhelmed with emotion, Alanna jumped into Matheus’s arms, crying tears of joy.
“I love it. I really didn’t expect this. How did you manage to prepare it in such a short time?”
