Chapter 104

As Yana bid farewell to John and left him outside the gate, John could not help but feel a sense of desolation. He could not shake off the nagging thought that perhaps she no longer harbored any emotions for him. Maybe, he ruefully pondered, he had arrived too late in the game, rendering his efforts futile. With a flurry of mixed emotions, he glanced at the device and saw that it was Yuri calling. Seeking solace in the conversation that was about to unfold, John took a few steps away from the house and answered the call.

"Hello? Oh, Yuri," John greeted his cousin, his voice betraying hints of apprehension.
