Chapter 11
Eriane’s POV
You know, sometimes clubs are one of the saddest places, where people dance in despair, laugh when they really just want to cry and drink until they’re numb. It’s where the dead goes to seek artificial dopamine to numb the pain of existence.
“Do I really have to go through this?” I thought to myself as I kept chugging the beer in my hand. Shane seemed to genuinely enjoy every moment, while I just did it to escape the darkness inside my head. I couldn’t help but wonder what I had done so wrong that I ended up in a situation like this. My dad was the only person I had left, and now I was about to lose him, too, because of a decision I had no control over.
