Chapter 31

Tears streamed down Victoria's cheek as she thought of the file she had lost. It was five minutes past her resumption time for work and she was yet to leave the house because she was worried and scared of the outcome.

She had thought hard for a long time now and the last place she could remember dropping the file was on the couch.

The sound of her phone ringing snapped her up. She stretched to get her phone and her eyes blurred with tears when she saw the caller ID.

After a few seconds, she got up from the floor and headed to work. She was ready to face the consequences for her actions.

"Goodness! Finally you are here. Mr Smith had been waiting in the meeting room for almost an hour now. What happened? Why weren't you answering your calls and where is the file?" Rebecca said all in one breath.

Victoria swallowed the lump in her throat. "Let's go." She said to Rebecca.

Mr Smith was seated while waiting patiently f
