Chapter 228. I Choose You

The guards led Maddie and Nate through the grand halls of the house until they reached a room, a very familiar room; one that the omega knew all too well. 

It was the room she had shot the elder in. It was the room that she had watched him bleed out in. It was the very room she had taken the camera from that other night. It was a room filled with trauma and history. 

Maddie walked in the first and her eyes landed on Elder Roy. Their eyes locked and the old man smiled lopsidedly. It was like he knew very well what he was doing. But still, the omega could not imagine how he must have been feeling. 

Looking at him, he looked like nothing was wrong with him; like he was perfectly fine. But she knew that he was not that strong. No one was that strong to be in the same room that they had almost died in and be absolutely okay.
