Chapter 39

Kat was fairly certain she was more nervous about the game than Theo was. He had kissed her goodbye that morning and left like he was off to any old regular job. Not to get pummeled on a field where millions of people were watching from the comfort of their homes. But she kept it together and got ready in time to meet with Edith and Shane so they could ride together to the stadium.

The event was massive. Almost seventy thousand people in attendance with musical acts performing before the game and of course again at halftime. They had great seats, but it was still difficult for her to spot Theo down on the field. 

It was a close game. Brutal. Neither team was holding anything back. It was go hard or go home. By halftime, Kat had already lost her voice from yelling so much, and she was pretty sure Edith was in the same place. Shane stayed quiet but had an intense look on his face. She knew he was probably close to a heart attack just like her.
