Chapter 40
Theo got back to the hotel so late it was probably really considered early. He was still in a state of euphoria and couldn’t wait to share it all with Katrina. Things had been a whirlwind of crazy after the game was over. This was what they had worked so hard for. All the cuts, bruises, and sore muscles suddenly seemed forgotten as they all hollered and pumped their fists in the air. Victory. There was nothing sweeter.
Per tradition, they tipped the massive Gatorade barrel over the coach soaking him in the orange liquid. He grinned with a fake annoyance at his players while grabbing a towel from the athletic trainer to wipe himself down. Before Theo felt ready, microphones were stuck in his face from the swarming media. It was part of the job. He didn’t like it but considering what he hoped his next job would be, he’d better make an effort.
