He was already old, and if circumstances allow, he may soon have grandkids. 

He only wanted peace in his family, and perhaps getting rid of all the lovers he had kept by his side would do the trick. 

After thinking things through, he checked his text messages inside the toilet, hoping for a message from the blackmailer and at the very least to see whether his wife was still alive, doing better, or if there were any demands. 

However, he did not see any messages that he desired, but rather a disturbing message that he had never anticipated seeing.
