Chapter 4. The Arrival of Disruptors
This apparently forced Scott, Ryan's older cousin who lives in Birmingham to come and share a place with Ryan and his girlfriend.
This is all because of orders from Ryan's father, Eldison.
Scott stood in front of Ryan's house since an hour ago. The sun hadn't fully risen yet. It wasn't Ryan's fault, it was just that he was too tired to wait until he finally dared to contact his cousin through a phone call.
Inside, Ryan's cell phone rang loudly, waking him up. His face was shabby and his hair was still messy. His hand grabbed the cell phone that he put on the table last night. His eyes opened slightly, until as he read the caller's name his lips suddenly swore loudly.
"Damn it! Why is he calling me early in the morning?" Ryan cursed.
The man slowly got out of bed and opened the curtains at the end of his room. His eyes fell on a man standing in front of his car waving his hand at Ryan who was peeking through the window.
"Why did dad send his to this house?" Ryan muttered. He rushed into the bathroom then quickly cleaned his face and ran downstairs to open the door.
Krekk
"Hello, good morning." Scott greeted Ryan, who was standing at the door. His hands dragged two large suitcases to the upstairs room. He had stayed in this house in the past, and it was his favorite room.
"What are you doing here? It's still early." Ryan stood in the doorway of Scott's room imperiously. Scott just shrugged his shoulders, not understanding why his uncle was so worried about his favorite son.
"Uncle Eldison told me to. If you want to protest, go see him." Ryan snorted in annoyance. He walked out of Scott's room and into his own. From the direction of the stairs, Sarah, who had just woken up, looked strangely at Ryan, who seemed to be in a hurry as he came out of the room located at the far end. The room was open, and it made Sarah curious.
She slowly made her way into the room. She stood in front of the room, and someone she recognized made her eyes go wide.
"You? Why are you here?" she asked with a confused face. "Who told you to come into this room?" she asked again.
"I'm here at Uncle Eldison's invitation. Just ask him." Scott didn't want to say much. He took a piece of casual clothing and opened his shirt in front of Sarah's eyes.
"I assure you, you will never feel at home in this house." Sarah left.
At exactly seven in the morning, Scott went downstairs to the kitchen for breakfast. There was only Sarah in the kitchen, cooking food and making two cups of coffee. Scott walked over to her.
"Wow, you're brave to live in this house. It's true what they say; you have no face anymore," Scott mocked in a low voice. Sarah gave Scott a quick glance, reluctant to argue with Ryan's cousin. "I heard you guys are getting married? Is that true?"
"You already know, don't you? What are you asking me again for?" Sarah scrunched up her waist with her eyes rounded in anger. Scott casually stirred the latte in his cup and returned to the table.
"I'm just asking. Lily and Ryan's divorce hasn't been finalized yet, and you have the nerve to sleep with him. It's amazing how shy you are," Scott taunted once again. He sipped his drink leisurely while enjoying a piece of bread that Sarah had baked. Luckily, Lily doesn't demand much from you two."
"Scott!" shouted Ryan from the second floor. Scott turned around and went back to enjoying his food. "Don't be rude to Sarah. She's my future wife."
Scott rolled his eyes lazily. He chuckled at Ryan's statement. He could easily say future wife while he was still Lily's ex-husband. He was not yet legally divorced.
"Take care of your divorce first."
"What are you doing here?" Ryan snapped.
"I was ordered by your father to be a supervisor in this house. I've just arrived, and you've already been caught bringing strangers in. Unbelievable," Scott quipped, fixing his eyes on Sarah, who was standing next to Ryan. "Can you kick her out?" he pointed.
'I-I can't. I promised to finalize my divorce with Lily and will marry her as soon as possible so that our status changes," Ryan said, slightly stammering.
"Starting this week, your father gave me the mandate to take back your company. Actually, I said goodbye yesterday, but there's a more serious problem here." Scott finished the rest of the latte in his cup and stood facing Ryan.
"You're not joking, are you?"
"Why would I joke?"
"Do you know everything?" Ryan asked a little agitatedly. Scott nodded. "Yeah, he knows. He found out from the gossip reporters. He's furious."
"Is he looking for Lily too?" Ryan asked.
"Not yet, but Uncle Eldison is looking for her." Scott gave him a quick glance and walked toward the stairs to the second floor. "I want to rest. Tomorrow I'll start working again at your company."
Scott closed the door and disappeared into the back of the room. Sarah arched an eyebrow. She stared in annoyance at her lover, who seemed very relaxed at Scott's threat. Sarah stood with her arms folded across her chest, acting intimidating to Ryan, who was enjoying his morning meal.
"You didn't stop him or threaten him?" said Sarah, who was so dominating over Ryan. Her lover only gave her a glance without answering Sarah's question. Annoyed, Sarah slammed a small spoon in front of him. "You just keep quiet? How can a cousin dictate to you like this?"
"Sarah, I'm looking for a way out; you can't act like this. Patience, I'll finish my divorce first," Ryan replied without any enthusiasm.
"You're not paying attention to your position in the office? Come on, Ryan, you're the son of the Eldison family. Why don't you take action?" Sarah continued to intimidate Ryan. "If you don't take action, I will. Lily is not your family anymore; she should not be involved in the family rules."
"Sarah, please don't act up. I'll take things slowly. Be patient," Ryan whined.
"Alright, I'll give you until next month. You need to finalize your divorce from Lily and take over the company." Sarah gently gripped Ryan's chin. She leaned closer, and their faces touched. Sarah whispered in Ryan's ear, "We should be happy without your family and Lily's interference, right?" Ryan nodded.
"Yes, that's right."
