"What?" I asked, only this time quietly.

The police came here to arrest me, not her.

Carter came to hold my hand, pulling me close to his side. I tensed.

I didn't know what his plans were, or why he lied to the police. I never envisioned this scenario.

"Carter, what are you doing?" Devlin asked in a murderous tone.

Carter ignored her, facing the officers, he addressed them instead.

"This woman, Devlin came to threaten my wife and me. They are twins but apparently, she deceived me into marrying her instead." He voiced out.
