Chapter 13. Pure Heart (4)
When opening day finally arrived, my dad was the one who woke me up. It was early, and he knocked on my door nearly knocking it down, completely forgetting there was a doorbell next door. "You're going to knock it down?" I ask as I open the door.
He doesn't respond, just walks in all nervous and sits on my couch.
"Good morning to you too, son."
I laugh and walk sleepily.
"Good morning, Dad. Do you want some coffee?" I go to the kitchen. He nods and gets up. Then he walks to the kitchen and sits on one of the stools. I watch him as I pour coffee into the coffee maker and notice his restless fingers tapping against each other. "Hey, calm down," I say.
"Sorry," he laughs. "I arrived too early, didn't I? Your mother tried to stop me from coming at this hour, but I couldn't wait any longer."
"Imagine, Dad, it's..." I look at the clock in the corner and smile
