When the wolf channels returned, so did every pain my body had postponed.

Grimm came back furious. Mara's echo hit me like a door thrown open in a storm. Pack voices flooded the edge of my mind and disappeared again as the relay shifted between Silence and founder control.

I wanted to reach Mara.

I also wanted Severin's throat.

Mara gave me one look that clearly said choose the useful impulse.

I chose her. "What do you need?"

"The Bridge channel." "I hate that answer."

"I know." Soren, Ilyra, and Elara came through Caldor's control passage. Tamsin and Lucien followed with three guards.

The undercroft was suddenly very crowded for a constitutional
