“Laura Stone.”
The analyst’s voice hovered in the air, transforming those two ordinary words into the focal point of my worst nightmare.
Wait. No. Laura was the woman who had painstakingly pieced my life back together when I woke up in that hospital bed with a shattered body and an empty mind. She was the one who patiently walked me through the void of my amnesia, helped me pick out a home, and laughed when Liam threw tantrums.
“No,” I breathed, the word slipping out before I could stop it.
The security analyst offered a tight, sympathetic smile, clutching his laptop. “I know it’s hard to digest, Mrs. Vance, but we have to follow the evidence.”
