Kelsey POV
Garrison steered the car to a halt in front of a grand stone entryway. He was still stiff, his chest muscles protesting every time he turned the steering wheel, but he had stubbornly insisted on driving us home himself.
I stared up at the towering wrought-iron gates of Sterling Crest, a sudden wave of confusion washing over me as the car rolled up the familiar, tree-lined driveway.
"I don't understand," I whispered, turning to Garrison. "During the divorce, I demanded this house be liquidated. The lawyers told me the estate was converted to cash."
"It was," he said, a melancholic weight in his voice. "But three weeks after your crash, I bought it back from the investment firm. I paid double their asking price. I couldn't bear the thought of strangers living in the only home we ever built together. I kept it exactly as you left it, Ken. Deep down, I think I was keeping it safe for you."
