Chapter 37
Kelsey POV
The lights died.
I gripped Garrison’s hand hard enough to hurt us both.
"Garrison?" I whispered, my voice trembling in the frigid air. The terror gripped my throat as I realized what that darkness meant. My little boy was somewhere in this labyrinth, alone and terrified, and we were blind.
"I'm right here," Garrison murmured.
"I can't see anything, Garrison," I breathed, my heart hammering against my ribs.
"I know," he replied, adjusting his grip so his larger fingers enveloped mine. "Don't let go of my hand, Kelsey. Stay close."
A metallic click sounded near his face. A muted red glow cut across his features.
"Night vision?" I asked, staring at the glowing lenses over his eyes.
"Corporate security is a lot more complex than installing cameras and hiring guards," he replied, his voice dropping to a dangerous, gravelly register.
