Chapter 19. The Prophecy
Cinnia felt safe in his warmth. She let out a delighted giggle when he picked her up and spun around. Once he set her down, she refused to let go, clutching his shirt tightly and burying her face in the crook of his neck.
"I was so worried about you. I didn't know if you'd come back at all. Mya said you would be fine but I still—"
Denzel kissed the side of her head, cutting her off. "I'm alright, Princess. I'm with you now, aren't I? You have nothing to be afraid of. They can never harm you again. Ever."
Cinnia leaned back, her eyes searched his face, and drifted down the length of him, inspecting for any injuries. When she found none, her shoulders slackened and a grin spread across her face.
"Sophie." She held out a hand to Sophie who remained near the jeep, staring past them awkwardly. "Come. Are you...? I'm so sorry."
