Chapter 15. Guilt Trip
Lea’s POV
Jake was sitting right in front of me.
He sat there silently with my hand in his hand and his head hung low. He was staring at the floor.
Even though there was physical contact between the two of us, it suddenly started to feel like we were miles apart.
He was aggressively trying to apologize but after my refutation, he simply gave up. Quite unexpectedly and suddenly.
He was zoning out. But I did not have any idea what to make of his behavior.
I was exhausted.
My body and mind were not in sync.
My skin was already rejoicing at the touch of his skin, but something inside me told me that Jake was not the same.
“Maybe you should go home and rest,” I finally told him because it seemed like he was unable to utter anything. I did not want things to be any more complicated than they already were.
“You want me to go home?” He asked without even looking up.
“Yes, Jakey...” I paused short of a smile.
