Chapter 3

Daphne’s POV

“Hurry it up you big dork!” I shout at my brother who hasn’t stopped being on the phone. If he could, he would marry his cellphone at any given moment. He shoots daggers at me and I pinch his nose for looking at me wrong, how dare he? I am not going to be bullied by him.

Before he can say another word, I take his cellphone and press the red button. He shouts at me for doing that. “Hey! Not cool, Daph, I almost had a date with that girl!” I roll my eyes at him.

“You could say whatever it is, the girl will still dump you. I got all the good stuff from Mom and Dad, so you three only have to take care of me, the princess of the house!” I wiggle to the rhythm of the music in the mall.

“You are always way over your head Daph. Maybe when you get a boyfriend you will calm down. Man, how am I going to get this girl? Daph, you will lose a nail if you try that again.” He threatened me and I stuck my tongue out at him.

He drives me to a place I wasn’t expecting to go, the driver’s license and ID cards. He parks the car and gives me a playful smile. “Why are we here? I have college soon and the time is still early, but I would like to get a head start so I’m not the “it” girl of college, you know?” I sound nervous and I am.

“Yeah, well I don’t want to drive a diva around every single day and neither do the other two. So since we love you so much, we are basically buying our freedom from you with a car and a license. So let’s go or you will be late for not only college, but for your diverse exam.” My mouth drops at what my brother just said.

I passed my driver’s exam with flying colors! YES! Even my brother admitted I was good. My smile is over the moon. If I keep smiling like this my cheeks are going to hurt me so badly tomorrow. Walking outside after having my perfect picture taken I see a red convertible in the driveway.

My brother hugs me from the side and whispers in my ear. “Happy birthday, Daphne!”

I place my hands on my mouth and jump from the excitement. “Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god! I love it! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!” I shouted excitedly to my brother as I hugged him tight.

When I feel the waterworks coming, I stop and step back while palming my hands on my eyes to stop from ruining my makeup. Ugh, it’s such a perfect day.

My brother gives me a key with a chain that has my name in glitter, “DAPHNE” I take it and run to my new baby.

Sitting in my brand new car, my brother comes to my side. He lowers to my window and places his hands on it, I start my car and it feels so good. It’s an automatic car set. Clearly it’s not brand new, but it was recently refurbished and well put together if I have to guess. I say daddy and the bros did this for me.

“Dad and us worked hard on this baby, but she is good to go. Has the best in music, easy to not get in any accidents and clean, keep it clean Daph I mean it. This baby is so good, even I would take it for myself.” He gushes on his work and I feel so happy to have this birthday gift.

“Now I feel bad for the call end, but still it’s my birthday so I am going to forgive myself.” I smile brightly at him as he looks at me with doubts.

“I should have kept the car and money if you were going to be so mean to me.” I frown at him and my cell rings in the car.

My brother jumps and hits his head on the ceiling of the car, making me laugh. I grab my cell and see it’s my best friend, I hit green and he speaks through the car.

“Hey! Here’s my birthday girl! Happy birthday Diva Daph! Ready to party tonight?” I look at my brother who kisses my cheek as he mouths the words “bye”. He leaves and I drive to college.

“Well after school, but only if my grade of attendants looks good. I gotta always look the part and feel the part too. How about you, Orlando? Are you ready to have some fun, baby?” I asked him excitedly. Today is such a good day, he laughs on the other side as he answers me.

I stop by the C - Donuts to buy my coffee and a nice hot egg with ham sandwich.

Arriving at the parking lot of my college, I see Orlando walking up the end of the parking lot. I park my car at where my last class is. Once my classes are done, I get out to go straight to my baby. Getting out, Orlando hugs me.

“Girl, this car is the bomb, look at this baby! You did not work on this car, your brothers did and it shows! Why does it already smell like coffee and a ham with egg sandwich?” He asks me as I sip and eat my food in his face.

Walking to my last class. Each time I glance around me, guys are checking me out. Which makes me smile. I know I look good. Heck, I know I am the best, but still, the day feels too plain. So far, I have met all my girls who are also studying law. We all agreed to go to JoJy’s Disco when my birthday party at home was done.

“Diva, how has the day gone for you so far?” Orlando asks me and I smile at him.
