Chapter 4

James

I arrive at class 5 minutes before it starts. Mr. Turner had just stepped in and surprisingly hadn't attempted to pair me with anyone. Actually, he hasn't attempted – I'm wondering what he's waiting for, but I don't ask.

Normally, I'd have paired with Sarah, but for some reason, she seems to be skipping class today. She mentioned something about having cramps earlier, so I just assume she's resting at the school's clinic.

I look up in time to see Kate walking into class. Her hair is fish-braided down her back, but it's kind of a messy braid so strands are pulling out of the sides. It's sort of a hot and attractive mess though. She's wearing a milk-colored dress with blue and green floral designs splattered all over the dress. A pendant is hanging across her neck, it's stone of the exact same color as her eyes. Her lips are a light shade of pink. I can't stop myself from staring at her.
