Drawing in a deep breath, she continued. “Also, there was a pile of invoices ready to mail on the desk the day I started. I held them back when I noticed that three of them were addressed to the same P.O. box. I opened them and found that each was to a different business. Those invoices were also bogus, and the addresses to mail the checks were not that PO Box.”
She tapped her fingers on the envelopes clipped together. “This is how your manager is stealing money. He’s paying employees who are either not real or not current and paying himself for fake invoices for services the resort never received.”
She understood what he was feeling. Betrayal was betrayal, whether from a fiancé or a trusted employee. “Your auditors wouldn’t have found them because all the manager had to do was not turn in the time cards or hold back the invoices and not input them into the computer until they were ready to pay and mail.
