“No. You’re right, Sophia. We should have told you everything from the start so that you could at least prepare.” Her voice shivered. As if scared.. terrified of something. Or more precisely, someone. This is news to me. Mom has always been brave and strong, to see her like this changes a lot of things. For starters, I am beginning to feel fear.
“Prepare for what?”
“Redburg honey. You heard that they captured Dame Xianth because they thought she was Naia’s daughter, right?”
I nodded at her, and she continued, “It was only supposed to be your dad to go to the retrieval mission. But I felt guilty, so I came too.”
She explained that a scout wolf came back from Redburg and heard that information. Then, Principal Grum immediately mind-linked Dad and Uncle Frank about it.
“So he can indeed use mind-link! We all thought he couldn’t!” I pressed.
“He can, of course. But it causes him severe headaches; that’s why he only uses it for emergencies.
