Jhoanna's POV

I charged forward, my wolf forming a blur of silver and fury, the roar of battle echoing in my ears. At the center of the melee, Hans and I finally converged on the revived Shadowborn leader. 

His eyes burned with unholy fire as he snarled his challenge, and for a split second, time seemed to slow. I could see the determination in Hans’s bloodied gaze, and I knew we had only one chance to end this threat.

Hans lunged at the leader with a force that belied his wounds, his sword flashing in the dim light. I circled around him, my claws slashing at the enemy’s flank. The leader’s power was palpable; each blow we exchanged vibrated with dark energy.
