The banquet was a success, all right. It ended with a blast, where Johanis laughed a lot so every single one of us was beyond ecstatic. The Bloodstone wolves had fun drinking, until they had to bid farewell so that they could return early to their pack and start anew.
While the next morning, the inevitable happened.
“I feel betrayed,” Dad muttered dramatically, arms crossed over his chest as he sat stiffly on the edge of my bed.
Mom sighed beside him, her expression equal parts fond and exasperated. “Jacob, stop pouting.”
“I am not pouting,” he pouted.
Hans, standing at the foot of the bed with his arms crossed, looked at me and whispered, “He is absolutely pouting.”
