Chapter 58. The Past (2)
A carriage passed by as Evie walked past the gates of the house, she was curious about who it was that came home to see Stephanie.
“Who was that?” Evie asked as she walked through the kitchen door, placing her bag on the table.
“No one of importance,” Stephanie sulked.
Evie didn’t notice the tone in her sister’s voice, “you mean future suitor,” she joked, elbowing Stephanie lightly in the gut.
Stephanie chuckled, this brightened up a countenance a bit, “No, not a suitor, how many times have I told you that I won’t get my match anywhere, I’ve passed the age for it.” She stated.
Evie raised her hands in the hair, “I hear you, but don’t let those dumb eyes snotty brats tell you when to find love or what age to find it,” she said, laying down her opinion.
“Sometimes you’re just so soft and gullible for my liking, but be careful though,” Evie said, taking a cup of water from the jug that sat on the table, the water felt refreshingly cool.
