Chapter 78. Parted Ways

Koen’s rage is a living thing, thrumming in the small space of the cabin like a second heartbeat.
His chest heaves as he glares at me, his body half-raised from the couch despite his injuries. I don’t blame him for being pissed—hell, if our positions were reversed, I’d be the same way. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to let him get himself killed by running straight back into Redmoon like a damn fool.
His nails lengthen, pushing out into claws that dig into my shoulder, piercing through my shirt.
I hiss at the sharp sting of pain.
It’s not enough to make me let go, but it’s enough to make my wolf stir in irritation. He’s strong, even injured, his body coiled like a spring beneath me. His desperation gives him an edge, makes him reckless. None of which I want to be dealing with at the moment.
“Koen,” I growl. “You need to stop.”
“Get off me,” he spits. His teeth are bared. “We need to go back. Now.”
