“And if I say no?” I challenged, happy I sounded more courageous than I felt.

There was silence on the other end then a chuckle.

“Such spark,” he commented with a bit of appreciation. “If you say no, then I will be forced to find someone who will say yes. It’d be a shame to take the other dark-haired woman. But I bet she’d be fun to break.”

Alyssa! How did he know about Alyssa? Break her? Everything Trev had said in the truck on the way out here came to mind. These men had no problems kidnapping, raping, or murdering women.

“Ah, yes. I see you understand my meaning perfectly,” he said happily.

I swallowed the bile that was rising in my throat and my knees were shaking so badly that I could barely keep myself upright. After a few minutes, I finally gave up and let myself fall to the porch floor.

“What’s going to stop you from doing that to me?” I asked, putting words to my fears.
